Givaudan Fragrances Today Wins New Good Neighbor Award with Attractive Development, New Jobs and Community Spirit
 News Release: June 11, 2002

Givaudan Fragrances Corporation's new Mount Olive Township facility will have a tremendous impact on the local economy and contribute to the township's attractiveness with a new, aesthetically-pleasing manufacturing facility. But it is the company's extraordinary commitment to the local community that makes it especially deserving of a 2002 New Good Neighbor Award from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association.

"Givaudan has indeed proven their ability to be a New Good Neighbor and deserves to be recognized for their amazing efforts," said Mount Olive Mayor Paul Licitra, who nominated the facility. "Having them as our neighbor has enhanced the quality of life in Mount Olive Township by creating jobs, adding to the aesthetics of our town, and providing support for our local schools and nonprofit organizations with their wonderful community involvement."

"Givaudan can be proud of what they have contributed to Mount Olive," NJBIA President Joe Gonzalez said. "This is an attractive new development that will provide jobs for the Township. But Givaudan has proven itself to be more than a good corporate employer. It has proven itself as an outstanding corporate citizen as well."

Since moving to Mount Olive Township, Givaudan has participated in and sponsored numerous charity events, including the March of Dimes Walk America, the American Heart Association Heart Walk, and the Doo Wop Car Show and Dinner Dance, which benefits the Mt. Olive Volunteer Fire & First Aid Services. Givaudan also has sponsored numerous programs at Mount Olive High School, as well as teams for the Mount Olive Junior Baseball and Softball Association and programs at Adventis Health System-Hackettstown Community Hospital.

Givaudan also wanted to make its own mark on the community. Shortly after opening its doors, the company created the Community Advisory Panel (CAP), comprised of representatives from the International Trade Center Alliance, Mount Olive High School, County College of Morris, and Hackettstown and St. Claire's Hospitals, as well as local businesses, township employees and residents. CAP's aim is to find ways to improve emergency planning and education in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attack.

Among its accomplishments is the Emergency Resources Summit, which provided a forum for large and small businesses to learn more about emergency planning.

From an economic standpoint, the new manufacturing facility located in the Township's International Trade Center is having a tremendously positive impact. Givaudan, a world leader in the creation of fragrances, flavors and specialty ingredients, has created 190 new full-time positions on top of the 200 construction jobs the $55 million project generated.

Givaudan is a worldwide leader in the creation and manufacture of fragrance, flavour, and specialty ingredients. Spanning five continents, Givaudan is the largest supplier of natural ingredients for the fragrance and flavour industries.

The building was designed by STV, Inc. of Douglassville, PA and built by Sordoni Skanska Inc., of Parsippany.

Givaudan Fragrances Corporation was honored June 11 at NJBIA's Annual New Good Neighbor Awards Luncheon at the Sheraton at Woodbridge Place in Iselin.

The New Good Neighbor Awards program, now celebrating its 42nd year, recognizes newly built or renovated facilities that have created jobs and contributed to the quality of life in their communities. This year's 13 winners were selected from 45 projects that represent more than $1 billion in combined construction value and will house 13,600 permanent full-time workers.

A panel of independent judges painstakingly reviewed the projects and selected the winners based on architectural merit, jobs created and community involvement. Project nominations were made by a variety of people, including mayors, a state senator, local economic development officials and a chamber of commerce president.
