In what will be his first major public policy speech sincewinning the November 7 election, Senator-elect Jon Corzine willgive the keynote address at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association'sPublic Policy Forum on Tuesday, December 12.Entitled The Race for Political Leadership, the Public PolicyForum will be held at the Sheraton at Woodbridge Place in Iselin from 8:00a.m. until 1:45 p.m. As the featured guest, Corzine is scheduledto speak at 1:00 p.m.
At 9:30 a.m., News 12 State House reporter Laura Jones will moderatea panel of the State's top four legislative leaders. Senate PresidentDonaldT. DiFrancesco, Assembly Speaker Jack Collins, Senate DemocraticLeader Richard Codey and Assembly Democratic Leader Joseph V.Doria will give their take on policies and politics.
Wally Edge, the mysterious pundit and editor of the PolitcsNJWeb site, will make a first public appearance, incognito, prior to a 10:30a.m. panel discussion on upcoming State elections. Walter Edge wasGovernor of New Jersey in the 1940s, and his name now serves as the pseudonymfor the creators of the Web site, which features inside information aboutNew Jersey's political elite.
In the 10:30 a.m. panel discussion, some of the State's top politicalanalysts will examine the political crosscurrents that could bring aboutsignificant changes in political leadership, and they will offer theiranalyses of the upcoming races. New Jersey Network (NJN) PoliticalCorrespondent Michael Aron will moderate the panel, which will becomprised of Rutgers University Professor Emeritus of Political ScienceStephenSalmore, senior Gore campaign advisor Harold Hodes, veteranState House reporter Herb Jackson, and national pollsterKellyanneFitzpatrick.
Also at 10:30 a.m., NJN Business Correspondent Rich Young willmoderate a concurrent panel examining the outlook for the State economyand financial markets. The panel will consist of Dr. James Hughes, dean of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planningand Public Policy at Rutgers Unversity; Dr. Joseph Seneca, vicepresident for Academic Affairs at Rutgers; and Bruce Simon, chiefinvestment officer with the Glenmede Trust Co.
