2000-2001 NJBIA Compensation Report Now Available

What do companies pay electrical engineers in centralNew Jersey?  What's the statewide average salary for constructionworkers?  What was the average wage increase for hourly employeesin 2000?

The answer to these and hundreds of other questions can be found inthe recently released 2000-2001 NJBIA Compensation Report,one of the most complete industrywide guides to salaries and wages paidby New Jersey companies.

Published every two years by the New Jersey Business & IndustryAssociation, the report is compiled from detailed surveys of hundreds ofNew Jersey companies reporting data for more than 25,000 employees. The report is available for $95 plus New Jersey sales tax for NJBIA membersand $200 plus tax for nonmembers.

"This report provides companies with valuable benchmarks for decidinghow they should compensate their employees," said NJBIA Vice PresidentMichele Glassburg.  "We don't use computer models or statistical estimates. The information contained in this report is derived from the actual salariesand wages paid by New Jersey employers."

The report details information for over 200 job classifications in 12job families.  The job families are accounting and financial; purchasing;office, clerical and administrative; information systems and data processing;engineering and scientific research; human resources and personnel; managementand supervisory manufacturing; technical, printing and factory manufacturing;marketing, sales and services; insurance and banking; construction; andsocial services and medical.

Among the statistical categories are high, low and weighted averages;regional geographic breakdowns; comparisons by industry and company size;wage and salary increases for 1999 and 2000; pay practice analysis highlightingbonuses and salary structure; and starting salaries for college graduates.

The names of the companies participating in the survey and their individualsalary structures are not provided.  This information is kept strictlyconfidential.
